Happy New Year, I hope you had a good holiday. A new year is upon us, a new start with a blank canvas, and there are plenty of opportunities in 2024 to build some income streams for creatives. If you are a writer and interested in fashion, I am an editor on a publication on Medium called Fashion Police. I am looking for new writers; get in contact if you are interested.

New Year’s Day Parade, West End – 1st 
‘The Parade is a marvellous opportunity for London to celebrate by showing off the diversity, creativity, and inspiration that abound in this great city. It starts at 12 noon, and the route goes from Piccadilly to Westminster. Lots of bands and carnival performers parade through the city.

Peace Dove Lates at St Albans Cathedral – 3rd till 13th February
Peace Doves is an art installation by Peter Walker Sculptor, in which 10000 paper doves will hang from the Cathedral tower. Everyone is welcome at St Alban’s Cathedral from Tuesday, 3 January, to Wednesday, 13 February—lots more events under the Peace Doves from Peace Dove Lates, Yoga, concerts and performances.

Winter Lights in Canary Wharf – 17th till 27th
The award-winning Winter Lights returns to Canary Wharf in January for the eighth year! Canary Wharf will be transformed by over 15+ spectacular installations, leaving the dark winter evenings aglow. The spectacle will showcase light art and interactive installations by some of the most innovative global artists working in light art today.

The Society of Photographers Convention – 17th till 19th
The 2024 Convention is a veritable feast of education, with four days of action packed programmes designed to help you put your imagery ahead of the game. The three-day Trade Show spanning the Thursday to Saturday is a gathering of the who’s who in the photographic industry, with the ‘big guns’ present and eager to show you the latest in technology and design.

Explore an exceptional line-up of Modern and Contemporary Art galleries from across the globe and experience sensational live performances and an inspiring programme of talks and tours.

Colour Walk Meetup at Spitalfields Market – 18th
It is an informal gathering of colourful, creative souls who meet, dressed in their finest, to walk, talk and strut their stuff. Excellent for photography.

Photowalk at the Winter Lights in Canary Wharf – 19th
Canary Wharf will be transformed by over 15+ spectacular installations, leaving the dark winter evenings aglow. The spectacle will showcase light art and interactive installations by some of the most innovative global artists working in light art today. Jose and Andrew will guide you around the lights, and we will have two models for you to shoot with the light installations.

Battersea Winter Lights – 25th till 25th February
Battersea Power Station’s annual Light Festival opens on the 25th of January till the 25th of February. The free art trail is around and inside the Power Station, with seven light art installations to explore.

Cute at Somerset House – 25th till 14th April
A major new exhibition exploring the irresistible force of cuteness in contemporary culture. CUTE brings together contemporary artworks, including new artist commissions and cultural phenomena such as music, fashion, toys, video games and social media, in this brand-new show examining the world’s embrace of cute culture and how it has become such an influential measure of our times. It will seek to unravel cuteness’ emotive charge, revealing its extraordinary and complex power and potential.

Shuvinai A Shoona: When I Draw, The Perimeter – 24th till 26th April
Shuvinai Ashoona makes drawings which engage with the complexities of life, land and community in the Canadian Arctic, through fantastical motifs and modes of storytelling. The work interweaves scenes from everyday Arctic life with imagery associated with Inuit animism and shamanism. This is the first time Ashoona’s works will be shown in Europe since receiving a Special Mention by the awards jury at the 59th Venice Biennale in 2022.

Christie’s Lates: The Mark Knopfler Guitar Collection – 24th 
Christie’s Lates returns on 24 January 2024 with a new edition celebrating Mark Knopfler’s legendary guitar collection. Join us after hours for a vibrant line-up of panel discussions and demonstrations set to the sound of Dire Straits’ timeless tracks against a backdrop of iconic guitars spanning Knopfler’s 50-year career. Entry is free and open to all.

The Frost Fair, Bankside – 26th till 28th
The Frost Fair is returning for its second year. From 26-28 January on Sumner Street, an event celebrating one of the most extraordinary events in London’s history. From circa 1605 to 1814, the surface of the River Thames froze over 24 times. Bankside has reinvented the Frost Fair for the 21st century. Immerse yourself in traditional games, music and dance, artisan stalls, art and craft workshops, and even a life-sized elephant!

Holbein at Tudor Court, Buckingham Palace – till 14th April 2024
Hans Holbein was one of the most talented artists of the 16th century.  From his arrival in England in search of work, he rose to royal favour, chosen to paint the portraits of Henry VIII, his family and leading figures, among them Anne Boleyn and Sir Thomas More. By his death, Holbein’s work was as admired by his contemporaries as it is today. His portraits inspired the next generation of artists in depicting Edward VI, Mary I and Elizabeth I.
