Welcome to September! I hope you’ve had a wonderful summer and found plenty of time to enjoy the sunshine, explore somewhere new and perhaps discover a few memorable events along the way. As autumn approaches and the days begin to change, September brings with it one of the busiest and most exciting times of the year, especially across London and Watford.
So much is happening over the coming weeks, from the London Design Festival, Frieze Sculpture and Open House London to London Fashion Week. Plenty of opportunities to get out with your camera. In this month’s newsletter, I’ve picked out some of the most interesting events and places worth adding to your diary, along with a few highlights from the summer you may have missed.

Great River Race – 12th
The Great River Race is London’s River Marathon. It’s a spectacular boat race covering 21.6 miles from Millwall in the East to Richmond in the West, travelling under London’s famous bridges.

Celebrate 100 years at Morden Station – 12th
Celebrate Morden Tube station’s 100th birthday with a vibrant line-up of activities, including live music, poetry, an exhibition of artworks and heritage photography, and a chance to hear reflections from former station staff. Morden Tube station is one of seven Underground stations which opened in 1926 as part of the Northern Line extension.

Classic Boat Festival at St Katharine Docks – 12th
Celebrating its 17th year, the annual St Katharine Docks Classic Boat Festival is a London boating extravaganza not to be missed. This year’s event will see 50 beautiful vintage and exquisitely preserved vessels assemble in the historic central and west basins.

Frieze Sculpture 2026 in Regent’s Park – 16th – 1st November
London’s free outdoor exhibition will feature 11 international artists including Angel Otero, Conrad Shawcross, Tarini Sethi and Ivana Bašić. It takes place in Regent’s Park.

Fleurs de Villes DIANA at Somerset House – 16th to 6th October
Celebrating the life and enduring legacy of Diana, Princess of Wales, leading British floral designers will use thousands of fresh flowers to create 15 stunning floral mannequins inspired by some of her most iconic looks.

An informal gathering of colourful, creative souls who meet, dressed in their finest, to walk, talk, and strut their stuff. It is excellent for photography. This happens on the 3rd Thursday of each month.

Amar Kanwar exhibition at Serpentine North Gallery – 23rd to 31st January 2027
Over three decades, New Delhi-based artist and filmmaker Amar Kanwar has developed a distinctive body of lyrical films and multi-video installations that move between documentary, travelogue and visual essay. This major solo exhibition unfolds as a site-specific installation, bringing together new and existing films to transform Serpentine North into a meditative visual and sonic environment.

Cecily Brown: Picture Making at Serpentine South – till 6th September
Known for her vigorous brushwork, vivid colour and dynamic compositions, Cecily Brown presents paintings inspired by Serpentine’s unique location in Kensington Gardens, a site of personal significance to the artist. Themes of nature and park life have long shaped Brown’s formal explorations. She experiments with scale, colour and recurring motifs, such as amorous couples, woodland scenes, and uncanny nature walks.

Serpentine Pavilion 2026 by LANZA atelier – till 25th October
LANZA atelier emphasises the role of design in everyday interactions and identifies the pursuit of beauty as a recurring theme in their work. The Mexico City-based architecture studio founded by Isabel Abascal and Alessandro Arienzo, has anchored the 2026 Serpentine Pavilion on the English architectural feature known as a serpentine, or crinkle-crankle, wall.
