Up the Shard

At the beginning of February the tallest building in western Europe opened its doors to the public.

For £24 you can now visit the viewing floors which are on the 68th floor. On the 6th February I went up, after arriving at the entrance you go through airport style security before being whisked up to the 68th floor.

The elevators are spacious, fast, silent you don’t feel you are going up so many floors except for your ears popping. Once you arrive at the top you are greeted by friendly staff who show you out onto the viewing floor.

The breath taking views surround you as you take in all the sights of London. They have some impressive electronic telescopes to view any part of London. If you happen to go up there when it isn’t sunny or after dark then you can switch modes whilst looking through to see the same spot  either in day / sunny mode.

Some of my photos are listed below plus more can be found on Flikr
