September has turned out to be an average month, quite dry and around average sunshine across England. An excellent month for harvesting there certainly has been an abundance of fruit & Veg this year after the cold spring.
The month started off with a continuation of summer with the highest temperature of the month coming at Whittle in Essex with 30.2c being recorded on the 5th. The lowest temperature was -2.4c at Kinbrace in Southerland. The highest rain fall occurred at Normandby in Middlesborough with 68.8mm in a 24 hour period.

From the 1st week it gradually cooled down to average with some chilly nights around the 10th. The last week of the month it has warmed up so that we have had temperatures in the low 20’s.
Looking ahead to October it is looking unsettled with periods of rain crossing the country but it will be mild for the initial 2 weeks. Winds will be coming from the south or south west. There is also potential for some very warm weather around the 10th into the mid 20’s.

The highest temperature occurred on the 5th with 28.7c. Although it shows it has been a wet month most of the rain fell in torrential rain on the 13th (30.9mm)
