May ended up being an above average month temperature wise a very warm start and fairly cool end.
If you live in the east of the UK it has been a very cool end of May but to the west it has been warm and summery. Its been a long while since the first week of May when the reverse was the case.
The highest temperature of the month across the UK was in the first week hitting 27.1c at St James Park, London. It was also the warmest May day since 2012. This brought about a date record on the 8th with a CET of 17.8c. The following day it equaled the date record of 17.6c from 1945.
The final CET for the month came in at 12.5c which was 1.4c above the long term average (1961-1990). Only April so far this year has been below average.
