Another one of the soul legends has passed they seem to come far quicker these days. I first heard of Bobby Womack back on pirate radio back in mid 80’s listening to radio Caroline when there was no such channel on the radio that played soul music. From that first track I heard he became one of my favourite artists.
Bobby Womack’s lyrics are so uplifting and always brought out the cheerful side of music. I am so glad I got to see him last year thinking it was going to be one of the last opportunities.
He was a prolific writer and wrote tracks for many artists around different genres of music plus his music was used in film scores.
I saw him late last year at the Royal Albert Hall. He was at his best even though he was nearly 70 a bit frail but his voice resonated around the auditorium which wasn’t even packed for this legend of music.
