Jazz Re:freshed at the Southbank

Another excellent one day festival celebrating Jazz music curated by Jazz re:freshed

This was the 4th year and the best yet. The sound was tight and the music was stomping. It was a hot / sweaty afternoon in the Clore Ballroom packed with double the audience than last year.

The word has definitely been getting around and its good to see that the Jazz has been exposed to more people. Especially with the artists that dont get the most exposure.

Here are some of my photographs that I took of the following artists. Thanks to their brilliant music 🙂

I arrived at 2pm and saw the brilliant Robert Mitchells Panacea. He has released 8 albums for the last 15 years. Amazing music with all jazzy grooves.

Next up was the Native Dancer whom I hadn’t heard live before with their mix of samples and acoustic instruments taking you into different melodic places. I would definitely check them out again.

Mark De Clive Lowe I had also not seen live. World jazz music at its best

Moses Boyd’s Exodus with keyboards and saxaphone & sampling got the crowd into a spin.

Tatham Mensah Lord & Ranks brought the show to a close with the orchestral brass instruments, bass and vocals.

Well done to Jazz Re:freshed for putting this on for FREE at the Southbank Centre with funding from the Arts Council. Always good to be in an excellent venue like the South Bank Centre’s Clore Ballroom.

Look forward to it being back next year.
