Frui photography social

On a freeeezing night in London my friend Gawain and I went to our first photography social. The event was run by Frui who do courses on photography and hosted by two of their exuberant tutors.

We arrived at O’Neills pub in Carnaby street central London with over 40 budding photographers where we were split into groups of 5.

The theme of the night was fashion as it was appropriately London fashion week. We had to take photographs corresponding to 5 categories in and around the surrounding area. The best photos taken by the team would be submitted to produce a winning team. We chose our team name as the “Photonestas” and headed out in the freezing cold.

Below is the photo I took for the category Swinging sixties my take on why I took the photo was of the wavy hair which women started to wear in the 60’s and I think Vidal Sassoon started the fashion then.

After we finished taking our pics we headed back to the pub for 8.30 to choose which pictures we would submit for each category. Each team member had to submit one image.

In the end our team came 3rd not bad for starters especially out of 9 teams. My photo for “swinging 60’s” got a score of 8.5 out of 10 I was certainly happy with that! 🙂

I will definitely be going on the next one in March as this was an enjoyable evening and helps you think about how / why you take the photographs with some meaning behind it.
